The past year has been my very best yet. I have never smiled so much, laughed so often, and just felt as ridiculously happy. And yet I don't worry about 2012 competing with 2011. Rather, I look forward to even more of the same. A bit presumptuous? I'll take that chance.
Oh yes, and it's my birthday today. The scene above is one of my favorites from the movie, Something's Gotta Give. To me, it epitomizes everything a good birthday should be - a fabulous dinner, a gorgeous cake, and most important - excellent company, all lavished over for hours on end (with many, many bottles of wine). And I am quite excited to be doing just that this evening with some of my favorite people.
