Kitchen Dreaming

It's no secret that I love to cook and entertain. So of course the kitchen is the room in our house where I spend the most time. It's always first on my "must clean" list, it's where people gather prior to our parties really getting started, and now, it's where the newest eater in our family is residing more and more.

Now I'm very lucky that our kitchen is fully functional. But, like most areas in our house, it could stand a few (dozen) improvements. A kitchen redo is quite a way off, but in the meantime, I'm filing some inspirational pics away for safe-keeping.

First up, love this kitchen as it is a layout very similar to my own kitchen. Not necessarily loving the counter to ceiling subway tile, but love the roman shades and the use of an island. (The striped fabric on the stools is beyond distracting though. Not a fan.)

Our house has a lot of saturated color in the living area. I love the idea of taupe-ish colored cabinets as I think it would be a nice transition between the kitchen and living room. Plus, I'm getting tired of our white cabinets. They're nice and bright, but a pain to clean.

The layout of this kitchen is also similar to my own, though I don't like how the two main windows are so far apart. The copper hood is fabulous (though $$$, I'd imagine), love the roman shades, love the island, and also love the pot filler.

This kitchen is just plain adorable. I think the fabric is Victoria Hagan's "Four Seasons Spring," which is way too light for our kitchen, but pretty, fun and happy.

But that brings us to my absolute, most favorite fabric in the world, which I would love to use in our own kitchen - Victoria Hagan's "Four Seasons Autumn". I am beyond envious of the roman shades used in the kitchen below. Alas, at $200 a yard, it's probably not in the cards.

Not a kitchen, but I love how the utensils in the picture below are separated by material. Wood spoons are perhaps the second most used kitchen tool in my kitchen (right after knives), and the more, the merrier.

Love these pendants. I love mixing and matching different textures, and think these would pull together the kitchen and living room.

Can this prop stylist come and do my kitchen? There's just something about the mix of white pitchers, a French press, the clementines (or tangerines?), and the pink ranunculus that make me so happy. This pic is from a past issue of House Beautiful, and I flip through the issue all the time just so I can stare at this picture.
