It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Autumn!

Ah, October. October is perhaps my favorite month of the year. The leaves are changing, the humidity is gone, the air is crisp, apples are ripe - and yet we're still prime for a few days of Indian Summer, if we're lucky.

Here in the Nutmeg State, preparations for the Fall season are officially under way.

We've pulled out our cozy long-sleeved shirts and corduroys. (Could there be anything sweeter than little boys in cords?)

Our stomachs are seeing a bit more comfort food.

The dahlias are in full bloom, and we find every excuse in the book to visit the rows of bright dahlias at one of our local parks.

And, we've made our annual (er, second year in a row annual) pilgrimage to a nearby pumpkin patch. I thought Sammy might express a bit more interest in picking out pumpkins this year, but alas, he only showed real excitement when it came to the hay ride out to the pumpkin patch.

And when an airplane flew overhead. This kid loves airplanes.

I can't forget about the post-picking wagon ride either. Forget the hayride and airplane - that was most certainly the highlight of his trip.

Happy October, everyone!

  2. Hi Jen, thanks for your comment on my blog today! Yes, we just moved to West Hartford so I think we live in the same town. I have visited Three Ladies Antiques many of times! :) I'll need to check out their persian rugs. Thanks for the tip. I couldn't help but notice your anniversary post and I recognized the church (St. Thomas the Apostle). My son when to STA school (PreK 3 & 4) and we have nothing but great things to say about that school. And, I also noticed your husband is a Nova grad. Go Wildcats - that is where I graduated too! So funny. Well, thanks for stopping by....we're loving West Hartford. It is such a great family town!
